Joint Replacement

At Oakland Regional Hospital, advanced surgical solutions include joint replacement in the fingers and wrists. This is sometimes called joint arthroplasty. Joint replacement relieves pain due to osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. The artificial joint replaces the damaged joint surface so patients can return to activities with greater freedom of movement and less pain.

The hand surgeons at Oakland Regional Hospital have extensive experience treating hand and wrist injury and disease, including:

Hand Injuries
Overuse/repetitive injuries to hands
Other conditions of fingers/hands

Fellowship Trained at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute

At Oakland Regional Hospital, many of our physicians are trained in extensive accredited fellowship programs at medical centers and universities throughout the United States – all to improve the patients' lives. It is the mission of our orthopedic specialists to provide each patient optimal recovery and use of their hands, upper extremities, joints, knees, and other orthopedic procedures.

In particular, some of our physicians have trained under the leadership and founders of Harold E. Kleinert, M.D. and Joseph E. Kutz, M.D. at the very prestigious Christine M. Kleinert Institute (CMKI), Hand and Microsurgery, at the University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. Since it was initiated in 1960, CMKI developed an accredited fellowship program and world-renowned research program. More that 1,275 physicians from 61 countries have received training in hand surgery as clinical fellows, research fellows, or residents. In addition to refining their understanding of hand surgery, many of these physicians have contributed to education and research, bringing new ideas and techniques from around the world, and are training the next generation of hand surgeons in upper extremity care and microsurgery.
